Arctic temperatures and ice storms can wreck havoc on your plumbing

Temperatures have been below freezing all week, and recurring ice storms are wrecking havoc on plumbing.
SERVPRO of Wichita Falls wants to remind our followers to bring your pets inside and follow these simple tips to avoid potential water damage from bursting pipes:
When temperatures plummet, the risk of your pipes freezing and bursting skyrockets. In fact, burst pipes are one of the most common causes of property damage during frigid weather and can cause thousands in water damage—easily $5,000 or more.
The pipes most at risk are those in unheated interior spaces such as basements, attics, and garages. But even pipes running through cabinets or exterior walls can freeze. The good news is there are some simple things you can do to keep your water running and your house dry.
Open cabinet doors and keep faucets dripping to help prevent freezing. Keep your thermostats turned up to maintain a constant temperature.
And if storm damage does happen, call the cleanup and restoration experts at SERVPRO of Wichita Falls.
